The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded silence from the embattled ex-Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, who has, over the last three weeks, been revealing details of alleged corruption of some party members in the House of Representatives regarding the 2016 padded budget.
The party made the demand through a letter dated August 4, 2016 and signed by its Deputy National Chairman, Senator Lawal Shuaibu:
“Arising from the series of meetings we held with you over the budget matter, the National Working Committee had decided to request to henceforth avoid issuing any public statement,” the letter said.
It added: “As you are aware, the Party and indeed the government have not been happy over the recent developments in the House over the issue of 2016 Budget. We found it embarrassing to deal with another new phenomenon you tagged ‘Budget Padding’.”
The letter also emphasised that Hon. Jibrin must not release statements “through social media or other means of transmitting an opinion on the matter to the public, as the party is now looking into it, towards finding possible solution.”
