The Police Command in Kaduna State, said its operatives have detained an alleged social media inciter during a raid in Rigasa area in Igabi Local Government Area.
The command’s Public Relation Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Hassan said: “The command wishes to inform the public of the arrest of one Comrade Mustapha Abubakar, popularly known as Dan Saudia, a self-acclaimed social commentator.
“He is notorious for making inciteful and misleading comments on social media platforms with the intent to disrupt public peace and security.”
According to him, the suspect was apprehended on Sunday during a coordinated raid on a known black spot in the Rigasa area.
He explained that at the point of arrest, he was caught actively smoking and in possession of a large quantity of dried leaves strongly suspected to be Indian hemp.
Hassan said the suspect was currently in police custody and would be charged to Court upon the conclusion of investigations.
“The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to ridding the state of all elements who use social media as a tool to incite unrest or promote disharmony and unlawful activities,” he said.
Hassan quoted the CP as further issuing a strong warning to the public to be mindful of their social media conduct.
He cautioned that anyone found engaging in acts capable of threatening public peace or violating the law would be decisively dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law. (NAN)
