The Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has denied claims circulating on social media that he was seen holding a firearm in a now-viral video.
The video, which surfaced earlier this week, shows Pastor Adefarasin holding an object while engaging with a passerby recording him in traffic.
The clip quickly drew public attention, with some online users alleging that the pastor was holding and possibly pointing a gun at the individual.
In response to the speculation, Pastor Adefarasin stated in a post on his official X handle, described the claims as a misunderstanding.
“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm.
“I want to assure you of this — that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone,” he wrote.
The cleric, who leads all House on the Rock branches, acknowledged the concern the video may have caused and urged the public not to fall for misinformation or sensationalism.
“We understand the concern that this accusation may have caused, and we will speak briefly to this mischief during the 9:00 a.m. service tomorrow. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” he added.
According to eyewitness accounts circulating alongside the footage, the incident reportedly occurred when an unnamed driver recognised Pastor Adefarasin in traffic. The cleric was seen holding up an object after winding down his car window, prompting assumptions from viewers that it was a weapon.
Addressing his congregation and followers, Adefarasin reaffirmed his commitment to clarity and truth.
“Dear Family, trusting that this meets you well, winning and on top of the tests of life,” his message began, before reiterating that the object in question was not a firearm.
Meanwhile, the pastor also invited members of the public to attend Sunday’s service where the issue would be addressed briefly.
“Do not permit the level where you are comfortable to keep you from God’s next calling upon your life,” he added in a follow-up message.
Adefarasin has since received support from some members of the public who urged critics to verify facts before concluding. (Channels TV)
