Article Dealers Association, opposite Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Lagos-Badagry Express way Lagos has sworn in its newly elected executive.
The swearing in ceremony was witnessed by some of the past and present presidents of some of the major markets in Lagos International Trade Fair Complex as well as the general assembly of the market.
Speaking at the event, the president of the market, Comrade Jerry Dimaka, appreciated those who worked tirelessly to ensure that peace returns to the market, which led to the election of the new executive.
According to him, the occasion is for the former executive headed by Sir Mike Enendu to handover authority and documents belonging to the association to the new executive so that they would continue from where they stopped, since government is a continuum.
He commended the past and present presidents of some of the major markets in the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex for their effort to ensure that the peaceful transition take place.
“What we are witnessing today is heroic. It is the process of transiting power from one administration to another, the first time in the last 17 years. The executive of the last administration will today handover documents and authority to the new executive and some of the presidents of the markets in Lagos International Trade Fair Complex like Mandilas International Trading Complex, Association of Progressive Traders, former president of Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association are here to witness the transition,” Comrade Dimaka said.
In his contribution, the immediate past president of the market, Sir Mike Enendu, expressed delight at the peaceful transition and prayed for its success.
He appreciated his executive who worked tirelessly to ensure that the market survived all kinds of set back and also gave them certificate of merit for remembrance for their service.
According to him, the structure of the market is good, adding that all that is required is upgrading and maintenance.
Sir Enendu prayed for the founding fathers of the market as well as others who laid down their lives or sacrificed their time to ensure that the market continued to exit.
Also contributing, the chairman of the Article Dealers Association Electoral Committee, Prince Alexander Ezeobi, commended the members of his committee for organizing free, fair and credible election.
After his speech and prayers, he handed over the relevant documents to the new executive.
He also expressed his appreciation for the traders in the market for the support that they gave to his committee and also for coming out in their numbers to exercise their civic right.
Ezeobi gave the elected executives their certificates of return after they were sworn into their various offices.
