Anambra State will organise a mega trade fair to commemorate 25 years of its creation. The Planning Committee of the trade fair slated to hold from November 25 to December 9, 2016 is already at work.
Receiving the committee members when they paid him a courtesy call today, the State Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Chief Tony Nnachetta, called on them to work hard towards ensuring a huge success of the fair.
While pointing out the active role he played in the organisation of the maiden Nigeria/South Africa Business Summit in 2002, Nnacheta observed that the trade fair holds huge potentials and prospects for the state.
He commended the committee for intimating his ministry with the programme for what he described as a gigantic project.
The commissioner also charged the committee members to make decisions that will bring at least ten percent of the state’s investment outside back to the state, saying that Governor Willie Obiano has created an enabling environment for business and other commercial activities to thrive in the state.
Earlier in his address, the President Awka Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (AWKACCIMA), Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, said that they have unified the three chambers of commerce in the state (Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi) into one to stage a world-class trade fair.
On his part, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Sunny Nwachukwu, explained that the Ministry of Information and Communication Strategy is key to making the trade fair a world-class event.
He said that participants will come from within the country, African, Asia, Europe and America.
The trade fair is named ‘Jubilee Fair’ in commemoration of the 25th year anniversary of the state.
Highlights of the occasion included presentation of prospectus and fliers to the commissioner by the members, as well as unveiling of the trade fair roll-up banner.
