Shippers advocate inclusion of Maritime Law in varsity curriculum

The Nigerian Shippers Council has emphasised the need for the introduction and study of Maritime Law at the undergraduate level in Nigerian universities.

The Executive Secretary of the Council, Mr Has‎san Bello, made the appeal on Wednesday at a forum with the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja.

He said that the introduction of maritime law in the curriculum of Nigerian universities would help articulate improvements and understanding of maritime issues.

The Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Julius Okojie, on his part admitted the need for Nigerian universities and lecturers to expand their knowledge base on maritime studies.
