The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command has detained two individuals for impersonating officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS).
The suspects, aged 34 and 29, were caught on Tuesday posing as LASAMBUS personnel while actually working for BrainGrace Ambulance Service.
They allegedly exploited accident victims and their families by demanding payment for pre-hospital care, usually provided free of charge by the state government.
The scam was revealed on social media after a family was forced to pay N150,000, only for the accident victim to die before reaching the hospital.
The family, believing LASAMBUS was responsible, later discovered they had been deceived by impersonators. The suspects have reportedly confessed to the crime. (NAN)
