President Tinubu, during his surprise visit to the Operation Fansar Yanma troops in Katsina
President Bola Tinubu, in an unannounced move, visited frontline troops of Operation FANSAR YANMA in Katsina State on Friday, reaffirming his administration?s commitment to national security and the welfare of the armed forces.
The visit, conducted without the typical high-level military protocol, allowed the President to assess firsthand the conditions under which Nigerian soldiers are operating in one of the country?s security flashpoints.
Addressing the troops, Tinubu hailed their bravery and patriotism, describing their mission as critical to the future of Nigeria.
?The fight you are waging here in Katsina and across the country is not just a battle for territory; it is a battle for the soul of Nigeria,? he said. ?Nigeria depends on you, and I am with you today, tomorrow, and always. Stay strong. Stay focused.?
The President said his presence was more than symbolic. ?I stand before you today not just as your President and Commander-in-Chief, but as a fellow patriot, deeply humbled by your courage and unwavering commitment to the peace, security, and sovereignty of our great nation.?
Calling the military ?the shield of Nigeria? and ?silent guardians of our democracy,? Tinubu expressed gratitude for the personal sacrifices made by soldiers and assured them their efforts are appreciated and recognized.
He reiterated the Federal Government?s plan to prioritise troop welfare through improved logistics, technological support, timely allowances, quality healthcare, and support for military families.
?Your welfare is my top priority,? Tinubu stated. ?New housing schemes, insurance coverage, and improved remuneration are already underway.?
Concluding his remarks, the President declared: ?This war will not be won by weapons alone but by your will to stand, resist, fight, and triumph. With your valor and discipline, peace shall prevail. Nigeria will not bow to fear, to terror, or to treachery.? (The Nation)
