Petroleum tanker drivers protest suspension of loading at Kaduna Refinery

The members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union are protesting the suspension of loading petroleum products at the Kaduna Refinery by the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

The tanker drivers who blocked the entrance of the refineries’ loading bay loading bay on Saturday, expressed shocked over the suspension and described NUPENG’s action as an act of sabotage, aimed at causing another fuel scarcity in the country.

The aggrieved tanker drivers alleged that NUPENG took the action because of a leadership tussle whereby NUPENG wants to impose a chairman on their union as against the wish of their members.

The tanker drivers are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate the actions of the NUPENG leaders and other oil workers’ union, whom they accuse of working at cross purpose with the federal government. (Channels TV)
