
Brigadier General Ali Nani has been appointed as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Task Force Division, Nigerian Army (NA). General Nani takes over from the outgoing Acting GOC, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Okonkwo who has been posted out.
A statement issued in Maiduguri, the Spokesman of 7 Division NA, Lieutenant Wenke Tonye said that the outgoing GOC, thanked the officers and soldiers of the division and expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Tukur Buratai, for giving him the opportunity to serve in that capacity while thanking God for seeing him through despite the numerous challenges in the division.
In his response, the incoming GOC commended the outgoing GOC for steering the affairs of the division in its fight to crush terrorists and insurgents out of Borno State.
He also appealed to officers and soldiers of the division to work as a family and endeavour to render useful advice to him always in order to serve them and the Nigeria Army effectively by way of giving him maximum cooperation towards achieving the set goals and objectives of establishing the division.
General Ali added that achieving the desired results will only be possible with troops’ commitment, professionalism and hard work while executing their assigned tasks.
The new GOC promised to work with the GOC 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu, the Commander, 79 Composite Group, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Maiduguri, Air Commodore Charles Ohwo to flush the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents in the state and the entire North East.
