Nigeria's rising profile as one of the emerging destinations in Africa when it comes to global robotic surgery, especially as it relates to Radical Prostatectomy and Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy, will soon be boosted as Kelina Hospital joins the train.
To drive this effort, the hospital whose major focus is surgery, is currently gathering a consortium of globally acclaimed, industry-tested professionals and experts in that field of knowledge to help consolidate its hold in that area of healthcare practice and services in the country.
Already, Kelina Hospital, which operates state-of-the-art healthcare facilities in Abuja and Lagos, boast world-class robotic surgeons led by Dr. Celsus U. Undie, a Consultant Urological Surgeon and President of Kelina Hospital, who have worked as Head of Urology for 10 years at the National Hospital, Abuja, before joining Kelina Hospital. Another is Dr. Bertin Njinou, who is in charge of the African Urology Training Centre in IRCAD, Kigali in Rwand. There are also several other Nigerian Urologists who have benefited from the IRCAD training. They will all be on ground to help pioneer the effort here in Nigeria.
?This year 2025, Kelina Hospital will be adding Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy (RARP) to Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy,? Dr. Undie said at a recent press conference held at its boardroom on Victoria Island, Lagos.
He revealed that Kelina Hospital has already successfully carried out over 6,000 complicated surgeries, including over 500 prostrate surgeries.
