Burial of slain Abuja female preacher suspended indefinitely as family insists on autopsy

The burial arrangement of late Eunice Olawale, the slain Redeemed Church preacher earlier scheduled for July14 has been suspended indefinitely to enable the police conduct thorough investigation into the incident and bring the culprits to justice.

The sudden development, as Independent gathered, was also to allow the family conduct an autopsy on the slain preacher.

This development was revealed by Pastor Biola Egebeyemi, one of the Area Pastors of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), who said that the decision was taken by the family of the deceased with a view to allowing thorough investigation on the immediate and remote causes of her death by the police.

The police had shortly after the news of the dastardly act announced that it had arrested six suspects in connection with the murder.

Pastor Egebeyemi said that the postponement of the burial would also enable the family to carry out post mortem examination on the body of the deceased.

He added that the family has engaged the services of a renowned human rights lawyer , Femi Falana (SAN), who will hold their brief in the court of law.

Egbeyemi maintained that any plan to sweep the matter under the carpet would be resisted and that justice must be done.

“A new date will be fixed for the burial and it would be communicated accordingly,” he said.

Unknown assailants cut down the late Eunice in cold blood as she made early morning preaching around her neighborhood in Kubwa, Abuja, last Saturday. (Independent)
