Pandemonium as DSS kills mother of 5 in children’s presence

There was pandemonium in parts of Kaduna metropolis when Department of State Security (DSS) operatives killed a female traveler on Tuesday, along the Kaduna – Abuja Expressway.

The victim was said to be inside a boarded commercial vehicle on her way from Abuja to Kaduna with her five children when she was hit by a stray bullet.

The incident actually occurred around Jere town before her corpse was brought to toll gate, located at Kakau/Sabon Gayan community.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. when the DSS operatives opened fire on the vehicle. The identity of the DSS operatives remains sketchy.

An eyewitness said: “We actually don’t know what really happened but we only saw the DSS operatives, about six of them, arriving in two Hilux vehicles. Immediately they saw a vehicle coming they tried to stop the driver but he refused to stop, so they shot at him.

“Unfortunately, they missed their target and hit at the commercial vehicle conveying the victim and her five children. She died on the spot.”

The incident angered motorists who witnessed it, and they blocked the highway to express their displeasure, an eyewitness told our correspondent on phone.

It was further gathered that it took the intervention of State Commissioner of Police Adamu Ibrahim, before the motorists agreed to leave the road.

ComPol Adamu Ibrahim confirmed the incident, saying that the DSS suspects have been arrested by the police. He called for calm, assuring that “investigation is ongoing to ascertain the situation.”
