There were speculations over the weekend that as Senate plans to resume on Tuesday from its short recess, there is the likelihood that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, may not appear before the upper legislative chamber to answer questions bordering on the Ambassadorial list.
Sources in the National Assembly who confirmed this to News Express in Abuja, also hinted that the Minister and theSecretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Babachir Lawal, might notappear before the lawmakers today.
The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs had invited both of them two times, before the just concluded Sallah break, to explain why some states of the federation were omitted in the list of ambassadorial nominees, but failed to appear as scheduled.
Lawmakers in the committee were furious at the last meeting scheduled to hold between them and the Minister owing to the absence of the minister who was represented by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Prosecution, Mr Okoi Obono Obla.
