Gunmen kidnap traditional ruler

The traditional ruler of Iyasan in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Abiodun Oyewunmi, has been kidnapped.

The monarch was reportedly taken away by 10 suspected gunmen who invaded his palace at about 10:00pm on Tuesday.

The kidnappers were said to have arrived in the town through the Owena River fully armed and went straight to the traditional ruler’s palace and made away with him without any resistance from the palace guards.

The abduction of the monarch was confirmed by the spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph.

Mr Joseph said that investigations have begun to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. (Channels TV)
