Anosike House a.k.a Green House has emerged the overall winner of Laureatefield Schools Biennial Inter House Sports Competition.
The event was held on March 15, 2025 at Camp 4, Ojo Army Barracks. Lagos and officiated by the representatives of National Association of Athletics Technical Officials (NAATO).
Recall that Lareatefield Schools is the Lagos State ‘Spell It’ Champion, a spelling competition that was organized for both private and public schools in Lagos State.
Anosike House came tops with 23 Gold, 16 silver and 11bronze.
Yellow House came second with 15 gold,18 silver and 20 bronze, Blue House was third with 14 gold,19 silver and 16 bronze, while Red House came fourth with 13 gold, 8 silver and 19 bronze.
Speaking on the event, one of the teachers in Laureatefield College, Emma Oputa said that this year’s inter House sports competition was spectacular as they had parents lobbying to buy different houses.
According to him, eventually they had to settle for two grand patrons per house for both the primary and secondary school.
“The grand patrons were, for Red House primary; Victory Jewelries, for secondary Paulo Logistics; for Blue House primary; Frankichuks Global Ltd, for Yellow House Primary; Ceci Blessed, for College; Royal Kinswill and for Green House Primary; Yamasupa Nigeria Ltd, for College, Anosike Books Enterprises. Parents came out in large numbers to support and encourage their children by dressing in the colours of the house to which their children belonged to. The match past by all the houses ,Green Yellow, Red and Blue was quite fascinating, colourful and exciting and Green House emerged the winner due to their outstanding parade and displays.”
On the events competed, he said that primary school pupils participated in 50 meters, 75 metres,100 metres and 200 metres with so much vigour.
Furthermore, he said that the 400 metres race for both junior and senior boys was highly competitive as every house representative wanted to emerge the winner of the race, adding that since there could be only one winner, it was Green House that got the gold.
Oputa said that parents were not left out in the event as they also participated in sprinting competitions.
“The popular aphorism’the extra mile you go in life distinguishes between success and failure was the story of Green House, the overall winner of the 5th Biennial Inter House Sports Competition of Laureatefield Schools with a landslide victory of 23 gold,16 silver and 11bronze medals. It was quite an emotional moment for the Green House students, parents and teachers as they lifted their trophies in the air amidst tears, joy, laughter and celebration as they reminisce on their collective efforts that were not in vain.” He said
The chairman of the event was Celestine Okoro
In her remark, the proprietress of the school, Maureen Okoro said,
“The event was simply splendid. God’s presence was palpable. The parents, staff, learners and guest were all amazing .The outcome of the event surpassed my expectations. I return the glory to God while looking forward to a greater experience next time.”
In his contribution, the grand patron of Green House, Peter Anosike praised all the participants in the competition and particularly Green House for their wonderful performance.
According to him, in the last inter House Sports, Green House was the first runners up.
His words: “During the last edition where they emerged the first runners up, I was physically present on the field and I told those who were to represent the House that the world has no place for second best. I made them to understand that the world does not remember number two, so in the next edition, they should try to be number one. Even my wife who wanted to run the 100 metres race for the mothers, I told her that she must win because I would not be going home with second best. She ran and came first and from that stand point, the woman who represented Green House for the mothers also came first in this edition. So, I am very proud of Green House that against all odds, they emerged number one in a highly contested event. Against all odds because nobody gave them chance. So I am very proud of them, their teachers and the proprietress.
