Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has commended the Department of State Services for the arrest of five suspected high-profile kidnappers operating in forests across the state.

Sunday PUNCH gathered that the DSS operatives acting on credible intelligence on Wednesday, traced the suspects to their hideouts in two separate locations in the state.

The suspects were believed to be part of a gang that had been terrorising Udi Local Government Area and other parts of the state.

The kidnappers, according to a statement shared with Sunday PUNCH, confessed that they had collected huge sums of money as ransom from victims? relatives.

?Items recovered from the suspects included large sums of money being proceeds of their illicit activities, lethal weapons and other dangerous objects.

?The governor noted that the DSS, in conjunction with the military, police and other security agencies as well as the state owned forest guards would sustain crackdown on other fleeing gang members as well as raid their hideouts and camps in the forests,? the statement read. (Sunday PUNCH)
