CKC Onitsha Old Boys Association mourns Father Tagbo

Members of the Old Boys Association of Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha, one of the preeminent colleges in the South-East and indeed Nigeria, are mourning the demise of their famous Principal, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Tagbo OON, who died July 2, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Hospital Onitsha. He was aged 86.

An statement by the President General of CKC Old Boys Worldwide, Chief Joe Billy Ekwunife, expressed the privilege of the association to announce the passing of the legendary priest, teacher and mentor of many great Nigerians for over two decades whose supervision and influence dictated the rhythm of the glorious years when CKC excelled in both academics and sports both locally and internationally.

Said Chief Ekwunife: “I am privileged to announce the home Call of a legend, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Chukwuemeka Tagbo, OON. A member of CKC Class of 1949 who resumed as the first African Principal of our fabled Alma Mater in 1963 and again from 1976 to 1985. He molded several generations of Nigera’s young men in the ‘Bonitas, Disciplina, Scientia’ motto of our College. He preached and delivered excellence in academics and sports and became a legend before our own eyes.”

Chief Ekwunife further described the much revered Fr. Tagbo as “a colossus of a man, unforgettable, cleric, teacher, administrator, disciplinarian, mentor, father-figure, sportsman and humorist.”

The announcement also confirmed that details of the burial arrangements for the iconic Priest and renowned college administrator will be made available later.
