
The Deputy High Commissioner of Sierra Leone in Nigeria, Major General Nelson Williams (Rtd), who was kidnapped along the Abuja-Kaduna road on Friday had regained his freedom and reunited with his family and members of the High Commission.
A statement by the Force Public Relations, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Donald Anwunah, said that he was released at about 4pm along the Abuja-Kaduna road.
The statement adds that Mr William’s release is as a result of credible intelligence and technical support aided by intense Police patrol activities on the land and in the air.
The statement further adds that the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, assures members of the Diplomatic Corp and other foreign nationals of their safety and security in Nigeria.
The Sierra-Leonean Ambassador was kidnapped on Friday morning on his way from Abuja to Jaji in Kaduna State for the graduation ceremony of Senior Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC).
