Late foremost activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman
Foremost pro-democracy and human rights activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, has lost his life in alone ghastly motor accident along Abeokuta-Sagamu road in Ogun State.
Aged 53 years, the fiery activist popularly known as Revolutionary Alfa died on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, according to a press statement released by the Media Office of the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) and signed by its Assistant General Secretary (AGS), Pastor Micheal Agaasi.
?It was learnt that Comrade Sulaiman boarded a vehicle coming to Ibadan on the fateful day before the vehicle he boarded had a road crash along the road,? the statement said.
It disclosed that the Osun-born late CHRSJ boss, who was survived by two wives, children, elder sisters, elder brother and younger brother, was buried according to Islamic rites yesterday (Thursday) at Abioye Ruling House/Compound, Awo in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State.
Until his death, late Sulaiman was the Executive Chairman of CHRSJ and Chairman, Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS).
Comrade Sulaiman, as disclosed by CHRSJ, ?was an ardent follower of late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN and a believer and apostle of live and let other live. During his life time, he was first Oranmiyan Youth Leader, a socio-political organization under former Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, and he was a true servant of Allah.
?The late rights activist once a member of Democratic Socialist Movement (DSM), National Conscience(NC), Committee for Democracy and Right of the People(CDRP), Committee for Defence of Human Rights(CDHR), Mainstream Conscience, Joint Action Committee of Nigeria (JACON), National Conscience Party (NCP), Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) and host of other human rights organizations in Nigeria.?
Pastor Agaasi described Sulaima as ?a fearless and dogged fighter while alive and a rare leader in his own right.?
He bemoaned his sudden death as ?very sad, rude shock and unfortunate incident for the human rights community in Nigeria, particularly, Southwestern Nigeria which was hard to bear.?
?Our society had lost a rare personality with uncommon humility and courage,? Pastor Agaasi lamented, adding that ?he denied himself world materialism in the course of love for the common masses.?
