Abia to unveil health sector road map soon, says Ikpeazu

Abia State government says it would soon unveil a road map for the health sector.

The State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, who made this known in Umuahia, the state capital, said his administration intends to build a strong health facility that would attract people and boost their confidence in the state's health care system.

Ikpeazu said in building a virile health sector, the state would partner with the private sector, describing as important the need for health personnel at the state primary and secondary health sectors to help in training the young ones, especially in environmental hygiene.

The Governor who was receiving members of Living Hope Ministries, a United States-based health organisation, at Government House, expressed the state's readiness to partner with local and international organisations to achieve his administration's objectives and programmes in providing quality healthcare for the people.

"As we all know, health is very important to the development of every society, that's why we are calling for collaboration from organizations, both local and international, to come and partner with us to ensure that our administration's policies and programmes on health is actualized.

He expressed delight with the commitment and efforts of the founder of the Living Hope Ministries, Dr Sunny Acho, to bringing healthcare delivery to the state.

"Let me thank Dr. Sunny Acho and members of his team at the Living Hope Ministries for his gesture of coming to partner with the state in quality healthcare delivery," Ikpeazu said, adding, "We will provide the necessary support to enable you carry out this selfless service to our people in Isuikwuato and Umunneochi."

Ikpeazu said he was soliciting the partnership of Abians in the Diaspora to explore ways of assisting the state in its developmental plans.

Responding, Dr. Acho, said the organization has a mission of meeting different health needs of the people in the society, explaining that they were in Abia for a two-week medical tour of Isuikwuato and Umunneochi Local Government Areas.

Acho said the vision of the group was borne out of passion and love for the people and pledged to work closely with the state government in whatever way they can, to achieve a healthier Abia.
