Comrade Joshua Apebo, ASCSN Secretary General
The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has threatened to shut down the 110 unity schools nationwide if the Ministry of Education fails to summon a meeting to address a dispute with the workers.
The association in a statement signed by the general secretary, Comrade Joshua Apebo, said the workers issued a 21 – day ultimatum for the ministry to call for a meeting or face industrial action.
Giving the ultimatum in a letter sent to the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja Thursday, the ASCSN secretary-general, Comrade Joshua Apebo, regretted that all efforts since 2023 to bring the management of the Federal Ministry of Education to the negotiating table to discuss welfare matters affecting its members in the 110 Unity Schools and the Federal Education Quality Assurance Service (FEQAS) throughout the country have been treated with contempt.
The union said the outstanding welfare issues include payment of promotion, salary, and elongation arrears; payment of allowance to education officers displaced from the iunity schools in the North-east and payment of 1st 28 days in lieu of hotel accommodation as stipulated in the Public Service Rules.
