The football world’s focus turns to Rabat as over 20 coaches and several African football legends have arrived in the Moroccan capital ahead of the highly-anticipated Final Draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.
The event, set to unveil the group stage opponents for the 24 participating teams, takes place on Monday, 27 January, at the iconic Mohammed V National Theatre at 19h00 local time (18h00 GMT).
The excitement in Rabat is palpable as coaches, legends, and officials prepare for a defining moment and the scene is set for an unforgettable night in the capital city.
Among the coaches present is Emerse Faé, head coach of defending champions Côte d’Ivoire. Faé, who led the Elephants to glory on home soil in 2023 TotalEnergies CAF AFCON, is eager to chart a path to defend their title.
Other notable attendees include Pape Thiaw, who will guide Senegal in his first AFCON as head coach, and Vladimir Petkovi?, tasked with reviving Algeria’s fortunes after a dip in recent years.
The legendary figures attending add even more star power to the event. Rigobert Song, a Cameroon icon who holds the record for most AFCON matches played, and Essam El Hadary, the record-setting Egyptian goalkeeper, headline a roster of football greats.
Morocco’s own Mustapha Hadji and Côte d’Ivoire’s Serge Aurier will also grace the event, reflecting the tournament’s deep cultural and footballing heritage.
The draw will determine the composition of six groups of four teams, with the top two in each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, advancing to the knockout rounds.
The tournament itself, scheduled from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, promises to showcase the best of African football.
Rabat, Morocco’s capital and a city rich in history and architecture, provides the perfect stage for the ceremony. The Mohammed V National Theatre, an emblem of Moroccan elegance, will host the draw, combining sport and culture in a dazzling spectacle.
