A human rights group in Nigeria, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has advised the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari to go and submit herself for investigation in the United State of America (USA) over the mindboggling Halliburton scandal so as to help her husband in the current fight against corruption.

A statement issued by the CHRSJ’S Directorate of Media and Research and signed by its Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman, which was made available to newsmen on Thursday, maintained that the non-clearance of the Wife of the President in the Halliburton scam would amount to a monumental sabotage and create a credibility problem for Buhari’s administration in the fight against corruption in the land.

CHRSJ faulted the defence put up by the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, on the identity of Aisha Buhari, describing Lamorde’s position as untenable and unacceptable to the public and International community.

It will be recalled that for over two years now, the name of one Aisha Buhari has been a subject of controversy in the Halliburton scam for which American authorities have jailed an ex-U.S. Congressman, Mr. Williams Jefferson for 13 years.

The group also recalled that the recent claim made by Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose at the wake of freezing of his personal Account domicile in Zenith Bank by the EFCC should not be treated with levity because the governor said the controversial Aisha Buhari was President Buhari’s wife and that this development calls for concern given the posture of current administration in its fight against corruption in the nation.

The group also faulted the support of the Senator Representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu for the President’s wife, saying Senator Kahsamu was a bird of the same feather, and further declared that Kashamu lacked the moral right to defend any Nigerian accused of corrupt practices until he submits himself for thorough investigation on the series of allegations leveled against his person by the United State of America on drug related offences.
