Three lecturers of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Gbeminiyi Sobamowo, Dr. Ayodele Ibrahim Shittu, and Dr. Peter Ngozichukwuka Amah, have been announced as the first recipients of the Sahara Making a Difference (MAD) Grant.

The grant provides a total of $36,000 annually, with each beneficiary receiving $12,000. It includes a well-established protocol for outcome-based management by UNILAG.

The announcement was made during the 55th Convocation Ceremonies of the University. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, congratulated Dr. Sobamowo, Dr. Shittu, and Dr. Amah on their remarkable achievement.

Dr. Sobamowo leads the Hezer Research Group in Mechanical Engineering, driving innovative energy solutions. Dr. Shittu advances Development Economics while fostering student initiatives through programs like the Grooming Grant, and Dr. Amah mentors The Investment Society, facilitating members’ placements in top firms and securing wins in prestigious competitions.

The Sahara MAD Grant was introduced in 2023 by Sahara Group, one of Nigeria’s leading international energy and infrastructure conglomerates, to support the efforts of dedicated lecturers committed to student success. (UNILAG Sun)
