LIGHTNING Bolt STRIKES AGAIN, grabs 100m gold at Moscow World Championships

Olympic champion Usain Bolt minutes ago stormed to victory in the 100 metres men’s race at the world championships in Moscow, recovering from a traditional late start to power home in 9.77sec.

The Jamaican made amends after disqualification from the same race two years ago in Daegu but was unable to recapture his form from Berlin in 2009, when he won gold in a world-record 9.58sec.

In any case, it was prophecy fulfilled for the LIGHTNING BOLT as he made good his threat to recapture his title.

Justin Gatlin claimed silver in 9.85sec and Nesta Carter took bronze with a time of 9.95sec in the Luzhniki stadium.

Bolt was the hot favourite for the title in the absence of the injured 2011 winner Yohan Blake and the 2007 champion Tyson Gay, who announced last month he had failed a dope test.

The Jamaican had sauntered into the final earlier in the evening in a time of 9.92sec, although his compatriot Nickel Ashmeade was the fastest qualifier in 9.90.

Great Britain’s Dwain Chambers and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey both went out at the semi-final stage. Chambers, 35, was sixth in his semi in 10.15, with Aikines-Aryeetey seventh and last in his in a hugely disappointing 10.34.
