The National Secretariat of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja was this afternoon thrown into pandemonium as supporters of the Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee stormed the place and chased away those of the ousted Ali Modu Sheriff.
The pro-Makarfi supporters, guided by security operatives, sang solidarity songs and brandished placards to show their support for Makarfi as the recognised and legal National Chairman of the party.
The takeover came two days after Sheriff, some of his aides and supporters, backed by thugs, on Monday took over the PDP National Secretariat by force.
Sherrif had told newsmen that he was at the Secretariat to resume duty, saying: “Until the subsisting court cases are dispensed with, I remain the National Chairman.”
