The National Association of Nigerian Students, Zone E, has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to mobilise contractors to the site of four ongoing major road projects in the northeast region.

This is contained in a press release issued by the Zone E Coordinator, Umar Afkawa, wherein NANS insisted that contractors handling the project must immediately resume work at the sites of the affected projects, or the FG will face mass protests.

The statement, which marked Thursday as the start of the countdown date of the ultimatum, listed the affected road projects including the Numan-Gombe, Numan-Jalingo, Damaturu-Buni Yafi and the Biu-Garkida roads.

Afkawa also disclosed that the association equally tasked the Minister of Works, David Umahi, to provide a comprehensive timeline for the completion of the four projects, calling on the Federal Government to identify and address all the challenges hindering the projects? progress.

The students? union leadership vowed that, ?Failure to comply with these demands within the stipulated 14 days will lead to mass protests in Adamawa, Gombe, Taraba and Borno states.

?The association will mobilise students and community members to demand action. It will also engage with relevant stakeholders to escalate concerns.?

According to the SUG boss, the prolonged delay in completing the projects has caused untold hardships to students, commuters, and residents.

He added that despite the repeated promises by the federal government, the projects remained uncompleted, thereby necessitating the union?s urgent call to action. (The PUNCH)
