Funke Akindele warns against piracy ahead of new movie release

Award-winning actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has expressed her frustration over the high rate of piracy in the Nigerian film industry.

With her new movie, “EverybodyLovesJenifa,” set to hit cinemas on December 13th, Funke urged Nigerians to say no to piracy.

Begging her fans on social media, Funke stated that recording videos at cinemas is a form of piracy that is killing the industry.

She emphasised that she worked hard on her new project and invested significant resources, and is still investing in the movie.

According to her, anyone caught filming will be arrested.

“Say no to piracy!!! Recording short videos at the cinemas is piracy!!!

Please stop it!!!Piracy is killing us!! I worked so hard, on this project. Please I’m pleading do not be caught promoting piracy!!! A lot of resources were and are still being invested in the movie Everybodylovesjenifa. Again, do not be caught encouraging piracy. Thank you”, she wrote. (The Nation)
