The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has ruled out a second term for Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano. It expressed disgust over his stance on the attack against its members by the Army in the course of the celebration of the 49th anniversary of Biafra at Nkpor in Idemili Local Government Area of the state on May 30.

In a press statement made available to Journalists in Awka by the National Director of Information for MASSOB, Comrade Edeson Samuel and signed by its leader Mr. Uchenna Madu, the group referred to Obiano’s description of the pro-Biafra agitators as strangers as callous and unthinking of a true Igbo man.
The statement reads, “Every Igbo man or woman is a Biafran irrespective of which area he/she come from. The Governor described fellow Igbo people as strangers in Igbo land. It is unheard of.
“Since assumption of office as Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has been fanning the embers of discord, state hatred and demonic spirit of Anambra indigenes and non indigenes which has drastically reduced his people’s love and goodwill.
“Ndigbo are Biafrans, we don’t know or believe in the spirit of indigenes or non indigenes. Governor Obiano’s gesture to offset the medical bills of wounded Biafrans is hypocritical and insulting, the statement is very insensitive and wicked.
“Ten days after the massacre, he suddenly wake up from sleep. Governor Obiano witnessed the unbefitting and unofficial burial of about 78 dead Biafrans through his commissioner for information (Chief Tony Nnacheta) who represented him inside Nigeria military cantonment, Onitsha.
“Governor Obiano gave his consent for their murderous killings thinking that Anambra State indigenes are not involved, he also witnessed their burial which involves 11 Anambra indigenes. As for our brethren who were wickedly killed because of Biafra, MASSOB shall invoke their restless spirits, ancestors and ancient Oracle of Biafra land to dethrone Governor Obiano in Anambra State next year’s governorship election. He has incurred the wrath of our ancestors.”
