Anambra State Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a notorious gang of three in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, 3-3 area, in the Oyi Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said that the Police-led Anti-Sit-Home Joint Patrol, along with Anambra Vigilante Operatives, raided the gang?s hideout on Monday around 10 am and arrested two armed suspects and declared the third person, popularly known as Akada, wanted for armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and the enforcement of the illegal Sit-at-Home order.

According to Ikenga, the operatives recovered an English-made pistol and other incriminating items from the suspects.

He reeled out the names of the arrested suspects to include, Chinedu Amah and Prince Nwogu, both males and residents of Nkwelle-Ezunaka.

The PPRO explained that the suspects were apprehended following a hot pursuit after a victim raised an alarm.

He said the victim was held at gunpoint and robbed of his iPhone and other personal belongings.

According to the PPRO, the suspects had confessed to the crime and named Akada, who is currently at large, as the gang leader of the group.

He said that efforts are underway to track down the remaining members of the gang.
