NEMA, stakeholders meet over replacement of 300 temporary shelters for IDPs destroyed by windstorm

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is working with stakeholders towards ensuring the provision of over 300 temporary shelters in various camps in Borno State which were recently destroyed by windstorm.

The Zonal Coordinator of NEMA in the North-East Nigeria, Muhammed Kanar, made the disclosure on Wednesday at the monthly Humanitarian Stakeholders’ Coordination Meeting in Maiduguri Borno State.

Kanar also stated that efforts would be made towards the provision of 100 units of toilets for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) residing in the satellite camp in Bama Local Council of Borno State.

He said: “The meeting was briefed by the shelter subsector on rebuilding of over 300 temporary shelters in various camps destroyed by windstorm. The meeting also discussed the efforts to provide 100 units of toilets for IDPs residing in the satellite camp in Bama LGA.”

The monthly meeting which is jointly organised by NEMA and Borno State Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA) with support from OXFAM, is held to discuss issues relating to humanitarian activities and camp management in satellite camps and liberated communities in the state. Participants at the meeting included representatives of security agencies and humanitarian bodies.
