Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi
The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has officially handed over the supervision of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF) to the Minister of State, Muhammad Bello Goronyo.
The handover took place during a meeting with the management and board members of the two agencies in Abuja. The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Yakubu Adam Kofarmata, Ph.D.
In a statement by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed, Umahi expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Goronyo to assist in managing the Ministry’s responsibilities, particularly those of FERMA, which directly impact citizens’ welfare
Umahi urged the agencies’ management and board members to prioritize patriotism and the fear of God in their duties. He emphasized the importance of advocating for increased budgetary allocations to enhance the agencies’ effectiveness and assured his full support to Goronyo in his new role
In his remarks, Minister Goronyo expressed appreciation for President Tinubu’s trust and commended Umahi for his leadership, describing him as an experienced and results-driven leader. Goronyo called on staff, management, and board members to extend their support, fostering collaboration for success. He also pledged an open-door policy to encourage innovative ideas for achieving the agencies’ mandates.
The heads of FERMA and OSGoF, Engr. (Dr.) Chukwuemeka Agbasi and Surveyor-General Abduganiyu Adebomehin, assured the ministers of their commitment to aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
During a maiden management meeting, Goronyo emphasized the need for innovative financing models to reduce dependence on federal budget allocations and requested detailed work plans and familiarization schedules from the agencies. (Vanguard)
