Kwara cracks down on absentee teachers, illegal private schools

The Kwara State Government has sanctioned 15 secondary school teachers and three Vice Principals for being absent from school during school hours.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Mr Musa Yeketi, stated this while briefing journalists on the activities of the Ministry in the last five months.

He said the action was carried out in order to instill discipline on the teachers who are in the habit of leaving from their duty posts.

The ministry embarked on a monitoring exercise to three local governments where 19 out of the 34 teachers were met on duty while the three vice principals were absent on two occasions.

The Government, he explained, will not condone indiscipline as the affected teachers and vice principals have been sanctioned.

He also added that the presence of illegal private schools in the state is alarming as the government is set to shut down those without approval. (Channels TV)
