Protest has erupted in Abuja as residents barricaded roads around Mobassa Street in Wuse Zone 5 with burning tyres.
The action, according to a local resident, was in response to a security raid targeting drug sellers that left one person severely injured, The ICIR reports.
“The security agents came to raid drug sellers, and there was a gunshot,” the resident explained.
The resident also suggested that an individual lying on the street had been shot during the operation.
“That’s a notorious place for all kinds of drugs, and lots of people patronise them,” the resident added.
Soon after, protesters set up bonfires made from burning tyres to block the streets in a show of defiance. (Sahara Reporters)
