Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a top officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Ogwash-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Sunday PUNCH gathered that the incident occurred around 8 pm on Thursday.
Sources who were privy to the development disclosed that the NDLEA officer was abducted after he left the agency’s office located off Isah-Ogwashi-Uku road in the metropolis.
One of the sources said, “Information available revealed that the officer was heading home at the close of work around 8:00 pm when the incident occurred.
“The officer was taken unaware by the hoodlums who laid ambush for him as he headed home. The criminals who were heavily armed bailed the officer up alongside his orderly and carried them away.
“We don’t know the circumstances leading to the kidnap, the abductors might have been privy to the departure time of their victim, and waited for him to run into them at their rendezvous.”
No fewer than five persons have been abducted in less than 10 days in Ogwashi-Uku metropolis, leaving most residents of the area in a state of apprehension and panic.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the state command of NDLEA, John Kennedy, did not deny or confirm the incident, saying he did not want to comment on the matter.
Also, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Bright Edafe, said the police command was not aware of the incident as of the time of filing this report. (Sunday PUNCH)
