The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has gone on a second recess as they await results from the remaining three local government areas in the Ondo State 2024 governorship election. The second recess started at 5:30 am, with resumption of results collation scheduled to commence at 12 pm today, Sunday, November 17, 2024.

After announcing results from 13 LGAs, INEC had gone on recess in the wee hours of the day, with incumbent governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leading in all the declared local governments.

Collation of results resumed at 5:23 am, with the collation officer, Prof Olayemi Akinwunmi, announcing results from two more local governments, namely, Okitipupa and Akure North. Aiyedatiwa equally swept the two LGAs, thus dimming the hopes of his main rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who is is coming a distant second. The only results being awaited are from the three remaining local governments: Ilaje, Odigbo, and Ese Odo.
