The family house after being set ablaze by the late Onyiuke Nwedeogu
By CHARLES IWUOHA
A man in his early thirties identified as Mr Onyiuke Nwedeogu has allegedly set himself ablaze after an altercation with his wife.
The late Onyiuke equally set the family house on fire perhaps with the intention of killing his sleeping wife, Mrs Felicia Nwedeogu, and their three daughters.
The ugly incident occurred in the wee hours of Monday, November 11, 2024, at Ndiechi Igbeagu in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
According to an eye witness who pleaded anonymity, the rift started when late Onyiuke had a misunderstanding with his wife the previous morning (Sunday), which resulted in him beating his wife, after which he selected his wears and put them in their provision shop.
According to the source, the late Onyiuke took the matter to the parents who lived some kilometres away from his house and was not satisfied with their pleas.
Thereafter, according to the source, the late Onyiuke rushed to his residence and forcefully removed the protector of their window, before pouring petrol on the building and setting it on fire.
Another source revealed that Mrs Felicia Nwedeogu and their three children were rescued through the widow whose protector the late husband had removed.
She said that the man after setting the building on fire drove away in his bus to one Elijah who rushed him to Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital (AE-FETHA), where he died on Wednesday.
News Express confirmed that Mr. Onyiuke?s body has been deposited at the AE-FETHA morgue.
When contacted the Ebonyi Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, said that the command was yet to receive the report as at the time of this report.
