Parents of a 16-year-old girl, Rachael Oluwaseun Willky, who was allegedly forced into custody of the Ondo State Children’s Home, Oba-Ile, Ondo State, have dragged the state government to court on Tuesday.
Filing the suit in court against the state government through the Office of the Attorney General, Tope Temokun Esq, the attorney of the applicants, Mr. Willky Gabriel Dele anf Mrs. Willky Labake, pressed charges against the state government
The applicants are praying the court to compel the state government to order immediate investigation of alleged aggravated assault and infliction of bodily wound on parents of the teenage girl by combined force of Tope Olukoya and one Akintade Kingsley of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The applicants demand “An impartial investigation into the extra-legal taking into custody and unlawful harbouring of a secondary school leaver of 16 years and four months of age into a motherless babies’ home, a girl who is neither motherless or fatherless nor indigent;
“An impartial investigation into the brutalization of Mr. Willky Gabriel Dele and Mrs. Willky Labake, with the use of an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in the premises of Ondo State Children’s Home (also known as Motherless Babies Home), Oba-Ile, Akure, for demanding to see their daughter who is unlawfully harboured;
“Immediate Release of Racheal Oluwaseun Willky from the Ondo State Children’s Home (also known as Motherless Babies Home), Oba-Ile, Akure to her parents, Mr. Willky Gabriel Dele and Mrs. Willky Labake.
“We entertain a reasonable apprehension that if resolute action is not taken, and things like these are allowed to flourish and be swept under the carpet, a crisis that may escalate and bespatter the good image of the State with a paint-brush of shame is already afoot.” (Daily Independent)
