FUOYE VC, Prof Abayomi Fasina
The Honourable Justice Adeniyi O. Familoni of Court 8, Ekiti State High Court, Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, adjourned to 20th January, 2025, a case between the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, and Institution’s former ASUU Chairman, Dr. Akinyemi Gabriel Omonijo.
The case with suit No: HAD/143/2023 between Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina and Dr. Akinyemi Gabriel Omonijo bothers on allegation of collection of double salaries both at two different Universities at the same time with Fasina demanding for Five Hundred Million Naira (?500,000,000.00) from Omonijo for libel while Omonijo is demanding for Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (?250,000,000.00) from Fasina via Counter-Claim.
During the proceedings in Court on Tuesday, Mr. Tiamiyu Adegboyega who appeared for the Claimant moved a motion to regularized Claimant’s reply to Defendant’s Statement of Defence and Defence to Counter-Claim.The Counsel, Hon. ‘Bayo Idowu who was supported by Mr. S. C. Odofin representing the Defendant did not object to the motion of Claimant’s Counsel for regularization of their processes.
In the same vein, the Defendant’s Counsel moved a motion to withdraw Application requesting the Court to hear their Counter-Claim if the Claimant is not ready to pursue his case. He equally moved a motion for adoption of all court papers in the matter. The Claimant’s Counsel did not object to the motion to withdraw the Application as well.
His Lordship ruled in favour of all the motions and the Court adjourned to 20th January, 2025 for trial based on the agreement between the two parties.
The stage is now set for both the Claimant and the Defendant to meet at the court.
