The Emir of Birnin Gwari, His Royal Highness, Malam Zubairu Jibril Mai Gwari II, has challenged former Military President Ibrahim Babangida to write a book that will correct wrong impressions about his person during and after the expiration of his administration.
The Emir made the appealon Saturdayin Kaduna, at the launch of a book ‘Ancestral Farewell’ written by Dickson Salami Adama, a Kaduna-based journalist and reporter ofDaily Trustnewspapers.
He said: “Most of those who contributed to the growth of Nigeria have not written a book. We have been waiting for a book from Military President Ibrahim Babangida, to tell us exactly what he has done during his tenure.
“There are so many people accusing him of being an ‘evil genius’, ‘Maradona’, ‘dribbler’ and all sorts. I am sure if he writes a book, Nigerians will be more enlightened about him. I therefore call on him to write a book.”
The Emir also appealed to the three tiers of government to revive libraries across the country. He also urged government to add the book as part of literature book in Nigeria.
“I have almost finished writing a book that is very controversial,” he stated.
The book reviewer, Solomon Omayiwa, a professor, lamented that most of those who are still in government are those who ruled Nigeria in the past. “How old are they now? We need to restore mentoring culture, to mentor the young ones to take over,” he said.
He described each book as either a value in itself or a value to all who reads it, “hence, I recommend the ‘Ancestral Farewell’ as a must read to Nigerians.”
