Youths from the 19 northern states of the country yesterday converged in Kaduna for a summit to push for a “new Nigeria.”

The move, it was gathered, is to ensure that a new face emerges as their sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

At the summit organised by the National Youth Alliance (NYA), various speakers emphasised the need to unite behind a young presidential candidate in 2027.

They blamed the economic woes that the country is going through on lack of ideas that would move the country forward.

Briefing newsmen, the President of the NYA, Amb. Aliyu Bin Abbas, lamented that the present political leadership of Nigeria is not in tune with the current economic realities, especially the hardship in the land.

“NYA has been able to attract youths from the APC, PDP LP, APGA, NNPP and other parties. As you can see, they came here in numbers for what they believe in, as patriotic Nigerians, they are yearning for change that will put Nigeria on the right pedestal,” he said.

Amb. Abbas, who disclosed that some politicians were already threatening him, however, said he is not deterred and would ensure that things are done right. (Daily Trust)
