Shock and sorrow have enveloped Afashio-Uzairue community in the Auchi area of Edo State following the poisoning to death of a young man and four of his friends by an estranged lover.

A report by CKNNews said the tragedy too place on October 26, 2024 and identified the culprit as a young lady that goes by the name Peculiar (surname unknown).

On the fate that befell the five friends, the portal said: ?Five of them died after eating fresh fish pepper soup prepared by the lady.

?She confessed after her arrest that she deliberately poisoned the soup in order to take her revenge on her boyfriend who once ditched her.?

The lady, according to the report, intended to kill only her estranged boyfriend and did not know that the young man ?decided to share the pepper soup with four of his friends.

?They all died from the food poisoning.?

The Edo State Police Command, according to the report, is ?currently investigating the matter while the lady has been taken into custody and the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the morgue.?
