Strike: Ondo workers adamant as talks with State Government deadlocks

Today’s negotiation meeting between representatives of the Ondo State Government led by Governor Olusegun Mimiko and labour leaders over the ongoing indefinite strike in the state has ended in a deadlock.

A report by Radio Nigeria Akure said the meeting which started at 10:00 a.m., ended at 2:20 p.m. without a concrete decision reached.

In attendance at the meeting were the governor himself, the Deputy Governor, Head of Service, Governor’s Chief of Staff, Special Aaasitant on Unions Matters, Attorney General/Justice Commissioner, Local Government Affairs Commissioner, Information Commissioner and some top government functionaries.

The labour team was led by the state Joint Negotiating Council Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress Chairman and Trade Union Congress State Secretary.

The unions have declared that the strike continues until government meets the demand of five months unpaid salaries covering January to May, 2016.
