A 28-year old man from Obinulo Ngodo Isuochi in Umunneochi local government area of Abia State is now receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital after a mob had lynched him for allegedly raping an 85-year-old woman.

The suspected rapist whose name was given simply as Maduabuchi was said to have trailed his victim to a nearby farm, on the outskirts of Umuerim Obinulo, rendered her naked and pounced on her as soon she had settled down to her farm work.

A source revealed that when the assailant who masked himself mounted on the poor woman, she raised the alarm, thereby attracting other farmers to the scene.

It was gathered that the suspect took to his heels, in his nakedness, to escape being mobbed. But he was not that lucky as people from the village, especially neighbours of his victim, laid their hands on him when the news of his evil act filtered to them.

Children of the victim reported the matter to Nkwoagu Police station in Isuochi but Police was reported to have said that it was yet to commence investigation into the incident as they were waiting for Chukwu to recover from the beatings he received in the hands of the villagers.

Villagers described the incident as an abomination, a pointer that Chukwu may be sanctioned after his date with the Police.
