Woman in police net for allegedly killing eight-month old son

The Nigeria Police in Yobe State on Friday confirmed the arrest of a woman, who allegedly killed her eight-month old son, Mohammed Idi.

In a statement made available to Channels Television in Damaturu the state capital, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Zannah Ibrahim revealed that the 25 year old woman, Yakura Idi of Gwange Ward, Damaturu is being interrogated for the said offence.

CP Ibrahim said in the statement that the arrest of the woman is sequel to a tip off, after which the suspect was detained for killing the eight-month old baby boy with a knife and buried him in a shallow grave within the compound.

The statement is coming barely few hours after the CP had applauded the improved security situation in the state where he called on the people to sustain the tempo.

The police, according to him, have exhumed the body of the child which will undergo an autopsy while a stained knife was also recovered as an exhibit for committing the offence.
