El-Rufai, Shehu Sani put aside political differences as Governor, Senate President visit bereaved Senator

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and Senate President Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday visited Senator representing Kaduna Central zone, Shehu Sani, to condole him on the death of his mother.

It was El-Rufai’s first time of meeting with the radical Senator representing Kaduna Central for the first time after both men won the 2015 polls under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

El-Rufai arrived Senator Sani’s family house in Tudun Wada, Kaduna, at 8am to meet a mammoth crowd which cheered and hailed him for identifying with the bereaved despite their political differences.

The governor was accompanied by some of his aides, among them his Spokesman Samuel Aruwan; Deputy Chief of Staff, Bala Yunusa; Special Assistant on Youth Matters, Awwal Yahaya; and Abdullahi Bayero, also a Special Assistant to the Governor.

The three days Fida’u prayers for Sani’s late mother, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar Sani, ended today.

The Governor was personally received by Senator Sani, who despite the mourning radiated joy on his face as he held El-Rufai’s hand and both went inside the house for prayers, after which he escorted the Governor back to his car. El-Rufai before entering his car offered personal prayers for the soul of Senator Sani’s mother.

The mammoth crowd supporters and mourners who trooped out to catch a glimpse of Governor El-Rufai chanted “No more political fight again” between the Senator and the Governor.

News Express recalls that Kaduna APC recently slammed 11 months suspension on Senator Shehu Sani over what the party described as gross misconduct, disloyalty and anti-party activities, threatening to expel him if he continues attacking President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies.

Senator Sani accused Governor Nasir El-Rufai of being behind his political ordeal. The Governor did not reply him.

In his separate visit, Senate President Saraki represented by Senator Aliyu Wammako prayed for the repose of Sani’s mother and for peace in the country.
