Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro Felix Obuah, is excited over the peaceful atmosphere that prevailed during the party’s national convention which took place in Port Harcourt over the weekend.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday, and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam, Obuah expressed gratitude to Rivers people “for showcasing their usual hospitality and peaceful disposition to accommodate governors, leaders, and delegates from all the states in the country, including Abuja, the federal capital tertiary.”

Obuah particularly thanked the Governor Nyesom Wike who doubled as Chairman, 2016 PDP National Convention Planning Committee, for making Rivers people proud by successfully organising and co-ordinating the national convention. “The party is indeed gladdened by Wike’s sacrifice, commitment and dedication in ensuring that the convention did not record any incidence of violence, crime and criminality throughout the period of the exercise.”

On the tough task ahead of repositioning the PDP, he said there is no scintilla of doubt that “we can also count on Governor Nyesom Wike, who has made our convention in Port Harcourt a huge success.”

Obuah also commended the security agencies for ensuring a crime-free and peaceful convention, stressing that Rivers people were simply very outstanding in their contributions to the success of the convention, a development that has given the PDP much hope and confidence that under Wike’s administration, Rivers State would remain peaceful and attractive to investors who are committed to the development of the state. “The overall success of the convention in Port Harcourt on Saturday May 21, 2016, underscores the fact that Rivers is peaceful, safe and free, as against sponsored media campaigns by the opposition political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and enemies of Rivers people.”

The state PDP chairman equally lauded delegates and other participants at the convention for their peaceful conduct during the convention. He expressed his heart-felt gratitude to Rivers people for their immense contribution to the successful hosting of the event in Port Harcourt, adding: “Extra inconveniences for the residents as they moved around during the period of the exercise to perform their normal duties, particularly the gridlock in some parts of the city, while the convention lasted, were just a little of the sacrifices they have to make in the collective efforts to change the ‘one chance’ called change.”
