Heavily armed policemen have taken over the premises of the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), blocking access into the party secretariat, a report this evening from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja said.
It said that five police vehicles, comprising two trucks and two pick up vans, blocked access on both end of the street directly in front of the secretariat, known as Wadata Plaza. A detachment of policemen also blocked the entry into the secretariat, the report said.
News Express reports that PDP, which ruled Nigeria from the return to democracy in 1999 till May 29 last year, has been racked by crisis, culminating in the holding of parrallel congresses yesterday in Abuja and Port Harcourt.
