Basketmouth and Victoria Eze on the A Ghetto Love Story set
Online users are abuzz following comedian Basketmouth’s announcement of a new chapter with media personality Victoria Eze.
The entertainer, whose real name is Bright Okpocha, shared a seemingly romantic photo with Eze on Instagram, hinting at a new relationship and declaring it was time to move on to the next phase of his life.
This post left fans divided between excitement and scepticism, with some suspecting it might be a prank.
The suggestive photo of himself with Victoria Eze, a TV host popularly known as Miz Vick was captioned, “About to step into the next chapter of my life,” which led to widespread speculation of an engagement. This strategic move has not only kept fans engaged but also effectively promoted his upcoming film.
Basketmouth has since dispelled rumours of an engagement to Eze. In a video posted on his social media accounts, the popular comedian clarified that the social media post sparking engagement speculation was merely a playful attempt to “chase clout.” He admitted he did not expect people to fall for the post, but they did. “Dem fall for am…hahahah!” he teased.
The comedian used this opportunity to share a teaser for his upcoming film, “A Ghetto Love Story.” The teaser offers a glimpse into the film’s gritty and heartwarming narrative, promising a compelling cinematic experience. “We have finally made our very first feature-length film, ‘A Ghetto Love Story’. And I’m really excited because I wrote the film,” Victoria Eze said.
Basketmouth also hinted that the film’s concept was inspired by his own life experiences: “This thing happened to me in real life. I experienced it.”
The film, set to premiere in November, features a star-studded cast including Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwor, Wale Ojo, Daniel Etim Effiong, Mercy Johnson, Efe Irele, Bright Okpocha, Victoria Eze, Beverly Osu, and Senator comedian, among others. However, the specific release date has not been disclosed.
Basketmouth’s clever marketing tool – a relationship prank – has successfully drawn attention to his new project. The comic star, known for his unique personality, announced his divorce from his wife Elsie after over a decade of marriage in 2022. Their separation came as a shock to many within and beyond the social media space. (Channels TV)
